Our Mission
Global Medical Brigades is an organization aimed towards bringing health care to undeserved areas in Ghana, Panama, and Honduras. Volunteers work with licensed medical professionals and community health workers to provide health services in rural communities. Volunteers and health care professionals treat hundreds of patients every 3 to 4 months in partner communities and work towards teaching community members to sustain a consistent level of health care.
The University of Missouri Global Medical Brigades is a branch off of the national organization, Global Brigades. The organization was created in 2010 and has since been part of two medical brigades. Mizzou sent a group of students to Panama in May 2011 and a group of students to Honduras in May 2012. This year we are planning two trips, one to Ghana and one to Panama both occurring in May 2013.
